I am a writer and marketeer who loves food and the science behind it.
I write, talk and eat food with relish
Love of eating and cooking is why I studied Food Technology at Wageningen University & Research. Sharing my new found knowledge by writing and talking about food and the science behind what we eat is what inspired me to combine technology with communication science.
After fifteen years working mostly as a marketeer in the food industry, I focused on developing my writing skills. First as a student of a Science Journalism course of a half year. After quitting my job, travelling accross the world for 10 weeks with my 2 boys and husband, I freelanced as a science journalist for 8 months. My big break came as a full time writing editor at Misset Uitgeverij. There I learned the ropes writing daily news for the agricultural sector for the newspaper Food & Agribusiness and the weekly magazine Boerderij. After four months I transferred to writing for Eiwit Trends, a Dutch trade journal for professionals in the protein transition. However, freelance work kept pulling me.
As of now I am free to write and talk on food, science and all that deserves a spotlight. I am a native Dutch speaker but enjoyed a good 10 years of English education both at middle school and university level. All the newest tools of the trade, from AI-tools such like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Notebook LM as well as open source design tools like Canva and Reve.art hold no secrets for me. Fifteen years of marketing also honed my presentation skills to bring any subject or issue with conviction and clarity.
